The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and the Bengaluru-based fintech giant, PhonePe, have entered into a two-year strategic alliance to bolster Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment method for Indian travelers in Singapore. This partnership marks a significant step towards enhancing the financial convenience for Indian tourists in the Lion City.

With this partnership, Indian travelers can tap on the PhonePe payments instantaneous transactions at over 8,000 merchant locations throughout Singapore. This initiative will facilitate smoother cross-border financial interactions between India and Singapore by leveraging the UPI system. UPI enables customers to make fast transactions from their Indian bank accounts directly by way of a QR code, phone number or bank account number.
